Another year, another last-minute gift hustle

Some years we are way more on top of our handmade game for the holidays, and some years, like this one, we are not. Anyone else with us on that? With a crazy travel schedule, a shop expansion, and the regular rigamarole that is life, this week is the final countdown to see if we can add some handmade goodness to our gift list, both in sewing and knitting.

If you haven’t heard, we added yarn to our curated selection and we love having another fiber vehicle in the shop. If you love knitting, you know it’s always fun and gratifying to have a couple of great one skein and done projects in your project bag. The other bonus, projects that you can finish up in a night or two would be ideal for this week. Sip some egg nog, watch a movie, and knit up this one:

The Omemee Toque using Woolfolk Luft (back ordered colors arrive tomorrow). The pattern can be purchased in-store or via Ravelry here. We shortened the brim and overall height by about one inch so we could do it in one skein.

Or this one:

The Tread Hat by Shannon Cook in Woolfolk Far. (individual pattern available on Ravelry or the book Within here). You’ll have enough left over for a pompom too!

If you haven’t worked with Woolfolk yet, it’s a must try as all their yarn is incredibly soft and makes for great gifts or for keeps.

Want to dig into that fabric stash and make some quick gifts? We’ve rounded up some of our old standbys as well as found a couple of fun tutorials to add to your evenings or breaks this week.

  • Our napkin/tea towel tutorials (part 1, part 2, part 3) from a couple of holidays ago.
  • Sweet storage buckets from Ashley/@filminthefirdge (they’re great to dress up another gift or even for potted plants)
  • A last-minute stocking tutorial from one of favorite, local creatives – Sanae Ishida (her book is also a great gift for a maker in your life)
  • An oldie but goodie zipper pouch from Anna at Noodlehead

Happy Making and hope to see you in the shop soon!
